Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Amad Diallo will miss the rest of the season due to ankle ligament damage sustained in training.
Speaking before Sunday’s Premier League clash with Tottenham, Amorim revealed the Ivory Coast winger is unlikely to return before next season.
“I think so,” Amorim told Sky Sports when asked if Diallo’s season was over.
The 22-year-old had been a rare bright spot in United’s troubled campaign, scoring six goals in his last 14 appearances across all competitions. His absence is a major setback for Amorim, who is already dealing with a growing injury crisis.
Ahead of the trip to north London, the United boss confirmed that Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Toby Collyer had also picked up injuries, while Christian Eriksen and Leny Yoro were sidelined with illness. Lisandro Martínez is already out for the season with an ACL injury.
“Amad was alone, Ugarte took a kick, and Toby and Kobbie felt something in training,” Amorim explained. “It is what it is, but we have the kids, and they have the opportunity to step up.”
Despite the setbacks, Amorim remains determined to adapt.
“I don’t see it as the world being against us,” he said. “Sometimes, everything happens at once. Amad was a key part of our attacking play, but we’ll have to find new ways to create chances. Maybe we’ll discover something positive in this difficult moment.”
