Ancelotti happy with Mbappe's form ahead of Las Palmas clash

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has lauded Kylian Mbappe‘s performances for the Spanish giants.

Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid last summer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, initially struggled to find his top form. However, he now boasts an impressive 16 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions this season.

The 26-year-old striker has proven his big-game pedigree, scoring in all three finals Real Madrid have contested this season: the European Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup, and Intercontinental Cup. Recently, he netted two stunning solo goals in consecutive matches, showcasing his resurgent form ahead of Sunday’s La Liga match against Las Palmas.

“I think every day that passes he looks to be more and more involved, above all for what he does on the pitch,” Ancelotti said during Saturday’s press conference. “His attitude off the pitch has not changed; he’s always very calm, always available, very humble.

“I think his involvement on the pitch has risen a lot. He’s showing a very high level, and that helps us obviously, it helps everyone… every game it seems like he gets better and better.”

Real Madrid currently sit second in La Liga, one point behind leaders Atletico Madrid, who face Leganes later on Saturday.

Ancelotti also provided updates on other team members. Austrian defender David Alaba is expected to make his return as a substitute against Las Palmas after recovering from a severe knee injury sustained in December 2023.

Additionally, teenage Brazilian sensation Endrick, who scored twice to save Madrid in extra time against Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey last 16, is likely to start on the bench.

“The idea is to play with those who have been regulars: Brahim (Diaz), Mbappe, and Rodrygo,” Ancelotti explained, noting that Vinicius Junior will miss the match due to suspension.
