Ancelotti given May deadline to decide on Brazil job

Italian tactician Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly been given a May deadline by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to decide whether he wants to take charge of the Brazil national team or not.

The CBF has informed the Real Madrid coach that they will not wait for him beyond that period.

Ancelotti, who has long been linked with the Brazil job following Tite’s departure, has never publicly stated his intention to leave Real Madrid. However, reports suggest that his tenure at the Santiago Bernabéu could end this season, making this the last chance for him to take over the five-time World Cup winners.

According to OK Diario, the CBF contacted Ancelotti’s representatives after the Spanish Supercup, informing them that a final decision is expected by May.

Spanish radio station Onda Cero in January reported that Ancelotti could leave his position as Real Madrid manager at the end of the 2024/25 season.

But the Italian has publicly denied the report stating that he has no intention to leave Los Blancos at the end of the season.

“No. I want to be very clear. I won’t decide my departure date from this club,” Ancelotti said. “I know the day will come. But when that day comes, I don’t know. I won’t decide. It could be tomorrow, after the next game, in a year, or five years,” Ancelotti said.

While Dorival Junior currently leads the Brazilian team, his inconsistent results in World Cup qualifying have prompted the CBF to seek more reliable options ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
