Name: Echedom Augustine

State of Origin: Anambra State

Dependents: Wife and Two children

Occupation: I am a trader. I deal in gym equipment and I have been in the business for the past eight years. The business has been sustaining my family until my son’s illness gulped the little we had leaving me penniless.

What’s wrong with your son? The problem began on the December 12, 2017 when my son was diagnosed with Arterial Sectum and Ventral sectum defect which indicates a hole in the heart. He was also diagnosed with Transposition of the great arteries which means that the artery that ought to supply blood to his heart now supplies to the body, the one that should supply to his body now supplies to the heart.

He developed chest infections on December 21, 2017 and was admitted for two weeks at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH for two weeks which was treated and got cleared. I spent more than N15,000 on oxygen, bed space and other necessities daily in LUTH. Since he was diagnosed of this ailment, I have spent over N700,000. The doctors said he need to undergo a heart surgery in India in order to correct the arteries and block the holes in the heart but I don’t know where to get the kind of money needed for the surgery.

How much is needed for the surgery? The surgery fee is $10,000 which would include some additional costs such as flight tickets, hotel reservations and feeding for at least a month which is about N7million. I have been trying to raise the money. I printed flyers and distributed to churches, individuals and have been able to raise almost N2million. I am pleading to well-meaning Nigerians to assist me. I don’t want my son to die.
