Omowunmi Adeyanju, the daughter of Funke Adeyanju, a micro-scale trader in Lagos, underwent a successful surgery on her fractured leg on Thursday.
The petty trader who was all smiles when BusinessDay visited Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, where the surgery was performed on Saturday said she has not stopped praying for those that made her daughter’s dream of walking again come true.
‘‘The doctors said everything is okay. My daughter will be discharged on Thursday (today) or Friday (tomorrow). I will continue to pray for those people who made this huge sacrifice so my daughter can walk again,’’ the trader said.
‘‘God will bless them abundantly. They will never lack anything good in their life,’’ She prayed.
When asked about how new business having received N418,200 for her daughter’s medical bills and N51,800 for her business, the trader said the entire money went into her daughter bills.
‘‘The initial bill the hospital gave us was N418,200 but when we wanted to pay, the bill increased. Where we were initially billed N60,000, it was now N118,000. When I complained, I told that the old bill only covered my daughter’s surgery, accommodation and feeding.
‘‘We also spent additional N12,000 for X-ray and that was not part of the initial bill. My biggest problem which is to see my daughter walk again has been solved and that is the most important thing to me right now,’’ Funke said.
Omowunmi sustained the leg injury in October 2016, when she had an accident. Her boss in a photography studio, where she worked as an apprentice, had sent her on an errand. On her way back, a car hit the motorcycle she boarded and sped off.
The trader was featured in this section of Thursday July 20 & August 10, 2017, where she said that money to pay for her daughter’s hospital bills was her major worries.
On Monday, August 21, 2017, she received N470,000 donation from BusinessDay readers to pay for her daughter’s medical bills.
