Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has emerged Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF).
He was unanimously elected during the meeting of the forum in Abuja on Wednesday evening.
Also elected was his Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal who emerged as deputy chairman of the Forum.
While Fayemi is an APC governor, Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, belongs to the main opposition PDP.
Fayemi had been the favourite to chair the group after the Governors reportedly rejected Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State.
Fayemi takes over from Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari whose tenure ends next week.
