Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, Presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed confidence in his chances ahead of the party’s 2027 presidential primary, insisting that competence and leadership capacity should take precedence over zoning considerations.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms, Hayatu-Deen described the process as smooth and transparent, saying the exercise marked a significant step in his journey towards the 2027 presidential election.
“It’s a beautiful, smart and quick process. I came here to submit my completed nomination forms for the office of the President of the Federal Republic under the aegis of the ADC. This is a remarkable day in the journey ahead of us towards the 2027 elections,” he said.
The aspirant maintained that political power ultimately belongs to Nigerians, stressing that the ADC was determined to provide credible alternatives for voters across the country.
Hayatu-Deen said he was fully prepared for the contest and optimistic about emerging victorious at the polls.
On the mode of primaries, he noted that the Electoral Act already provides clear guidelines, adding that the ADC leadership would adopt the option best suited to the party’s electoral success.
Commenting on zoning, he argued that Nigeria currently needs a competent and unifying leader capable of addressing the country’s mounting socio-economic and security challenges.
According to him, his campaign would focus on reducing poverty, tackling insecurity, lowering the cost of living, improving healthcare and returning out-of-school children to classrooms.
“Anybody seeking the office of president should see himself first as a Nigerian committed to serving all citizens, regardless of ethnic or regional background,” he added.
