Aregbesola, Kwankwaso Lagos meeting sparks 2027 alliance talk

Aregbesola, Kwankwaso to form alliances ahead 2027

Two prominent politicians, Rauf Aregbesola and Rabiu Kwankwaso, could form alliances and work together against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

This is as the two politicians met today in Lagos to discuss the modalities of such merger.

Sources at the meeting told BusinessDay that Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) was in Lagos on Saturday, where the two leaders held a meeting that lasted for more than one hour.

Although details were not released to the media sources said it was in preparation of Aregbesola and his supporters to join the NNPP.

In recent days there have been speculations that Aregbesola and his supporters may join the NNPP ahead of next year’s gubernatorial election in Osun State.

Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State was recently expelled from the APC after falling-out with President Bola Tinubu and his successor in Osun, Gboyega Oyetola, who is the current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
