The Action Democratic Party, (ADP) has officially released its Electoral Guidelines for the 2026 National Convention, Congresses and 2027 Primary Elections for the information, guidance, awareness and education of all members, aspirants, party organs, stakeholders, observers and the general public.
In a joined statement by Alex Abdullahi Maiyanga, National Organizing Secretary and Sani Dawop National Publicity Directorate, the Party said the guidelines provide the official framework for the conduct of the Party’s 2026 National Convention, congresses at the various levels, and the nomination of candidates for the 2027 General Elections.
In a statement, the party said the guidelines are designed to ensure orderliness, transparency, internal democracy, discipline, inclusiveness, accountability and strict compliance with the Constitution of the Action Democratic Party, the Electoral Act, INEC Regulations and Guidelines, and all other applicable laws.
In the statement the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party, Engr. Yabagi Yusuf Sani, stated that the Guidelines represent the Party’s firm commitment to credible, peaceful and lawful internal electoral processes.
According to him, the ADP is determined to provide Nigerians with a disciplined, democratic and credible political platform capable of producing responsible leaders at all levels.

“The release of these Guidelines is a major step in preparing our great Party for the 2026 National Convention, Congresses and the 2027 General Elections. The ADP is committed to openness, fairness, due process and respect for the rule of law. Every
aspirant, member and stakeholder is expected to study and comply strictly with the provisions of the Guidelines,” the National Chairman said.
The Guidelines cover, among other matters, the procedures for congresses, convention
arrangements, sale and submission of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, screening appeals, consensus arrangements, direct primaries where applicable, candidate selection processes, party discipline, loyalty undertakings, administrative requirements, and timelines for activities leading to the 2027 General Elections.
The Party also wishes to draw the attention of aspirants and members to the fact that, notwithstanding the dates contained in the timetable, activities relating to the purchase of
forms, submission of forms, screening, screening appeals and other preparatory processes leading to the commencement of primaries shall continue up to Tuesday, 26th May, 2026, in accordance with the approved schedule of the Party.
“All aspirants seeking to contest elective offices under the platform of the ADP are advised to obtain, complete and submit the prescribed forms within the approved period and to comply with all documentary, financial, constitutional and legal requirements stated in the guidelines.
The Party further emphasizes that consensus remains a preferred democratic mechanism where properly agreed by aspirants in accordance with the law, the Party Constitution and
the approved Guidelines. However, where consensus fails, the Party shall proceed with the appropriate primary election process as provided in the Guidelines and applicable laws.
The ADP assured its members, aspirants, supporters, regulatory authorities, civil society organizations, the media and the Nigerian public that its internal processes shall be conducted with fairness, transparency, discipline and respect for democratic values.
