2023: Suswan heads Udom’s campaign council

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, on Wednesday, appointed former Benue state governor, Gabriel Suswan, as head of his campaign council.

The development was contained in a statement signed by the protem director of external communications, Ini Ememobong, and made available to BusinessDay in Abuja.

The statement stated that their appointments arose from the urgent need to coordinate the pre-nomination processes for the Udom Emmanuel Presidential Project.

The statement named Gabriel Suswam, chairman of the campaign council, while Habibu Shuaibu, a retired army colonel, is the director general (DG)

According to the statement, Bola Bolawole, a former editor and chairman of the Editorial Board and deputy editor-in-chief, of The Punch Newspaper, was named the campaign spokesperson

Bolawole holds a Masters degree in political science from the University of Ibadan and has 37 unbroken years of stellar journalism practice.

Former Governor Suswan had served as a member of the House of Representatives and is currently a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Benue North East senatorial district.

The statement said Shuaibu, is a former governor of Plateau and Niger States and a former chief of staff to Ibrahim Babangida, will serve as the campaign director-general (DG)

Shuaibu is a founding member of the PDP and was a governorship aspirant in Kano State in 2011.

The statement also stated that the “campaign organisation expects the full deployment of the huge capacity, contacts and expertise of the appointees to the attainment of success.”
