Sources inside Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have raised concerns that voters in Adamawa State may be disenfranchised due to inadequacy of sensitive and non-sensitive materials for the conduct of tomorrow’s presidential elections in the state.

“As at midnight Thursday, both sensitive and non-sensitive materials delivered to Adamawa State were inadequate,” the source told BusinessDay.

“You may wish to call the REC (Resident Electoral Commissioner) for confirmation. Please ask him to give you figures categorically. I am telling you in all sincerity, ballot papers brought to Adamawa are not complete. By the way, the situation is the same in virtually all the states. You can find out,” the source alleged.

The source further said there was a dubious replacement of names of shortlisted ad-hoc staff in the late hours of Thursday.

Kashim Gaidam, INEC REC in Adamawa State, however, debunked the claim.

“As I speak with you now, I’m at CBN supervising the release of materials for the conduct of the election. Rest assured materials have been supplied enough for the exercise tomorrow,” Gaidam said.

Efforts to contact political parties were not successful as calls directed to the mobile phones of PDP chairman, Tahir Shehu, and APC publicity secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, for clarification were both rejected.
