US House passes bill to ban TikTok

TikTok is also having a rough time in the European Union where the parliament on March 1 banned the app from staff devices over cybersecurity concerns, meaning the Chinese video-sharing app is now barred in all three of the EU’s leading institutions.

The US House of Representatives approved a bill on Wednesday that would force TikTok to divest from its Chinese owner or get banned from the United States, AFP has reported.

The lawmakers voted 352 in favor of the proposed law and 65 against, in a rare moment of bipartisan unity in politically divided Washington.
