Amina Mohammed, the United Nations (UN) deputy secretary-general, is scheduled to be in Nigeria on Thursday for a two-day official visit for talks on how to forge economic and political stability in the West African region.
Oluseyi Soremekun, national information officer of the United Nations Information Centre, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.
While in Nigeria, the UN deputy secretary-general is expected to engage with President Bola Tinubu, senior government officials, and senior leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The discussions are expected to chart a way forward concerning regional stability and development.
She will be accompanied by Leonardo Simao, the secretary-general’s special representative for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), as well as Mohamed Fall, the resident coordinator.
Mohammed is also scheduled to perform oversight functions through her engagement with the team in Nigeria on ongoing initiatives.
