The office of the Correspondents Chapel of Abia Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists has been commissioned by Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the newly appointed Chief Press Secretary to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.

Ukoha, while commissioning the office, charged journalists in the state to always project the activities of his principal and the state in good light.

Recall that this was the first time Correspondents in the state would be having office they could call their own since the creation of Abia from the old Imo State.

The Chief Press Secretary said he was very glad to be called upon by the members of the Abia NUJ Correspondents chapel to come and commission their first office in the state, adding that it was not a coincidence but a sign of good working relationship between his office and members of the Correspondents chapel in the state.

Ukoha emphasised the importance of the media in the promotion of good governance as being championed by Governor Otti, while
stressing the need for synergy between the state government and the media.

He pleaded with members of the Correspondents Chapel to work closely with him, maintaining that it required synergy to work as a team.

He urged members of the press to come up with new innovations on how best to work, assuring that he would run an open-door policy and make himself available for everyone.

Ukoha urged the Chairman of the Correspondents chapel to articulate their needs to make their office conducive for working and make it available to his office.

Sam Obinna Ibe, chairman of Correspondents Chapel on behalf of his colleagues, congratulated the new Chief Press Secretary on his appointment.

He said that the press would continue to publicise the activities, projects and programmes of Governor Otti.

Ibe thanked the Chief Press Secretary for deeming it fit to commission their office and equally used the occasion to interact with members of the Correspondents chapel and assured them of his support; in ensuring he succeeded in office.

The meeting featured questions and answers on ways and means to publicise the activities of the governor and that of the state generally.
