Tinubu, Southern govs mourn wuanyanwu, Ohanaeze leader

President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt commiserations to the family of Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, who passed away on Thursday.

The former Publisher of Champion Newspaper was reported to have died at the age of 81, in Abuja on Thursday

Iwuanyanwu, who was the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, was also an accomplished businessman and notable politician.

President Tinubu condoled with the Imo State Government, the friends and associates of the deceased, and Ndi Igbo over this irreparable loss.

The president affirmed that Iwuanyanwu would always be remembered for his remarkable legacy, praying for the repose of the soul of the departed elder statesman and comfort to his family.
Similarly, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State who is Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum (SGF), has described the death of the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, as a profound loss to the nation.

In a statement issued on Thursday on behalf of all the Southern governors, described the news of the death of the businessman, publisher, and politician as shocking.

The late businessman owned The Champion Newspapers. His business had also grown into a conglomerate of over 20 companies, including Enic Advertising Ltd; Magil Industries Limited; National Post Newspapers; Sunrise Insurance Brokers; Oriental Shipping Lines Limited; Paradise City Hotel, Calabar and Oriental Airlines.

Governor Abiodun said as President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, the apex socio-cultural organization of the Igbo people, Iwuanyanwu worked tirelessly to preserve the unity of the country with his various, timely interventions at critical times when contentious issues were raging.
