The Senate has confirmed Zach Adedeji as the new Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
President Bola Tinubu had written the Senate on Tuesday seeking his expeditious confirmation.
During the screening process, Adedeji revealed plans to review and re-evaluate tax credit schemes and tax waivers in the country.

This comes after lawmakers raised concerns that these schemes have been abused, resulting in the loss of billions of naira in revenue.
Adedeji has assured that the FIRS will take necessary steps to address these issues and ensure that the country’s revenue from taxes is improved.
