A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Oluwatobi Aruwajoye, has assured residents that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is committed to ensuring the protection of lives and property.

Aruwajoye made this known in a statement on Tuesday following the police rescue of kidnapped victims by gunmen in Ose Local Government Area (LGA).

Recall that kidnappers, numbering about 15, armed with AK-47 rifles, over the weekend, accosted a Sienna bus conveying the travellers at about 11 pm at Omi Alafa village in Ifon, Ose LGA and led the victims into the forest.

Funmilayo Odunlami, the state public relations officer, however, on Monday said the kidnap victims have been rescued.

“We have rescued all the victims,” she said.

The official handle of the Ondo State Police Command on X also confirmed this, adding that the rescued persons are receiving medical attention in a health facility.

“The kidnapped Victims of Owo/Ifon area have been released, The victims are currently at Police Clinic Owo, they will be handed over to their family members after they have been debriefed,” the police stated.

While commiserating with the families of those killed, he commended the state police for its efforts in the rescue of the abducted individuals.

He emphasised that the state government remains steadfast in its commitment to prioritising the security of its residents.

“This incident is indeed unfortunate,” Aruwajoye said. “However, it does not undermine the government’s dedication to protecting lives and property.”

He urged residents to remain committed and hopeful, assuring them that the government is intensifying its efforts to address the recent attacks and prevent future incidents.
