Ogun commissioner for finance charges KPMG alumni to catalyse economic recovery

Dapo Okubadejo, the commissioner for finance and chief economic adviser to the governor of Ogun State, has charged members of the KPMG alumni to lead efforts to revive the Nigerian economy.

He stated this at the recent KPMG and Arthur Anderson alumni reunion event, themed ‘Reviving the Economy: Be a Change Agent’ which was held in Lagos, recently.

Okubadejo, also an alumnus, stated that the theme was a call for members to “harness their collective expertise and resources towards achieving sustainable economic growth and prosperity for the nation in their different capacities.

“As KPMG alumni, you are in the top 1% of the population, so you have significant influence and command serious followership. So, your voice counts, your involvement matters, and your contributions will go a long way to influence change.”

Similarly, Ademola Opeyemi, Managing Director of Optimus Bank, stated that the only thing missing in Nigeria’s development was the ability to execute policies flawlessly.

Likewise, Folake Fadahunsi, CEO, Proworth Investment Company charged every member to become a transformation agent, which is key to being a change agent for Nigeria’s economy.

“You don’t need to be in the public sector to be a transformation strategist. There’s enough room for people to position as transformation agents in the private sector. Transformation involves a clear strategy and structure for achieving this strategy,” she said.

Finally, Dame Winifred, CEO of North-West Petroleum and Gas Company Limited, implored members to walk the talk instead of complaining.

“I make a special plea. Let us stop complaining. Let’s join hands, and bring together our skills, competencies and time. The government cannot do it alone, but together, we can work to transform our nation’s economy,” she said.
