The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday said there was no cause for concern as leaders of the party are finding ways to check the perceived disagreement between Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu.
Tony Aziegbemi, Edo State chairman of the party, disclosed this in Benin City while briefing journalists on the inauguration of the campaign council scheduled to hold on Wednesday, August 9 ahead the local government elections.
Aziegbemi said the party was not oblivious of the current happenings between the Governor and his deputy, and that it was considering various means to ensure the rift doesn’t persist.
According to him, “I think the governor dealt with the issue very extensively. Leaders of the party are not sleeping on this and we are looking at various options. You will expect that such rift will exist because even identical twins have different DNA.
“More so, when it comes to the political ambition of human beings, the DNA can go haywire. So, as a party, we think that we will control this. I can assure you we will have this under our control. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. The rift will soon be a thing of the past,” Aziegbemi said.
On the forthcoming council elections slated for September, the chairman of the party said PDP is fully ready for the election, noting that the governor, who is the chairman of the campaign council, would lead the campaign across the 18 local government areas.

“We have our campaign councils in place, and they will be inaugurated at 12pm tomorrow. We are starting the campaigns from Owan West local government area on Thursday.
“With this, we wish to state very clearly that we are ready for the elections. As a party, we have done all things necessary for the elections, all arrangements have been made. It is a case of catch us if you can in terms of other political parties as far as the September elections are concerned.
“This shows that PDP is growing stronger and stronger. We just wish that Edo people will listen to our message; our message of delivering dividend of democracy to our people. Our message of the fantastic job the governor is doing in the state,” he said.
