NIPSS Course 46 in Abia as Otti reels out govt’s economic feats

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has declared that the State Government’s robust economic policies are responsible rapid socio-economic growth and development that have transformed and brought good governance to the residents of the State.

While commenting on the three critical sectors developed by the State Government, inclduing digital economy, youth empowerment as well as sustainable job creation, Otti noted that the deliberate investment in the three key sectors was to stimulate economy through aggressive digital economy, skills and vocational training and creation of employment opportunities.

The governor, who received participants of the Senior Executive Course 46, 2024 of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State led by L.A Jimoh mni, a Brigadier-General in Umuahia, noted that Abia State, under his watch, is doing everything humanly to improve the State’s economy for the benefits of all residents and even visitors.

The governor however assured the participants of the Senior Executive Course 46, 2024 that his Administration would not rest on its oars to further introduce programmes and polices that would further rejuvenate the State’s digital and youth economy policies, saying findings and recommendations of participants would also be implemented.

Also, Kenneth Kalu, Professor and Secretary to the Abia State Government, noted that the Abia State Government has a robust monitoring and evaluation department headed by a Special Adviser to Governor, hence, the Government’s projects and initiatives are managed with the greatest efficiency and result-oriented based.

Meanwhile, Commissioner for Budget and Planning is confident that Abia will continue to implement good youth transformation and gender-friendly policies, among others, through efficient budgeting processes.

Also, Nnalobilor Ananaba, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, said that since inception of Governor Alex Otti Administration, the State Government had introduced various skills acquisition programmes, targeted at the youths, on economic empowerment, leadership development programmes.

Earlier, L.A Jimoh, mni, a Brigadier-General, who led the participants of Senior Executive Course 46, 2024, Study Group 7, said the visit was to further appraise the State Government’s efforts in specific areas such as digital economy, youth empowerment and sustainable job creating in the Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) for optimal productivity.

Jimoh however expressed satisfaction on the level of compliance by Abia State Government towards introducing polices that encourage digitisation of the economy, education and skills acquisition, among others.

During the course of the tour, there was a personal donation by one of the distinguished Course 46 participants, Dimeji Belo, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.

Belo, who also shared his experience on youth empowerment in Ogun State, noted that youth empowerment is a sustainable route towards building a prosperous business environment.

He said, just like Governor Otti of Abia State, the effort of Governor Dapo Abiodun, whom he is serving, is to support the actualisation of the agenda of the President Bola Tinubu on digital economy, youth empowerment and sustainable job creation in Nigeria.

BusinessDay reports that participants of the year 2024 Senior Executive Course is made up of high-ranking members of the Armed Forces, the Diplomatic Corp, Leaders in Civil Service and the highest and brightest echelon of the Organised Private Sector.
