Nigerian security agents uncover ISWAP bakery in Borno

Troops of Operation Lake Sanity III, operating under Operation Hadin Kai have uncovered an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist bread production factory within their hideout in Maisani, Timbuktu Triangle, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The discovery was made during an exploitation mission into the terrorists’ den by combined troops of the 199 Special Forces Battalion, alongside Hybrid Forces and the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF).

Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, revealed the findings on Monday, citing intelligence sources.

Makama reported that the factory was promptly destroyed, and significant items were recovered, including two Lister generating plants, one baking machine, and various baking materials.

The operation occurred amidst a week-long clearance mission aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds in the Timbuktu Triangle, an area notorious for harbouring extremist groups.

The Timbuktu Triangle encompasses several key areas, including Buk 1, 2, and 3, Talala, Ajigin, Dusula, Abulam, and Gorgi, where terrorist activities have been prevalent.

These groups have been responsible for various attacks, ambushes, and incidents involving improvised explosive devices (IEDs), particularly targeting roads, supply routes, and critical infrastructure.

“Despite the challenging terrain, characterized by fortified camps concealed under dense foliage and scattered IEDs, the troops demonstrated high fighting efficiency throughout the operation”, he noted.

Makama emphasized the troops’ resilience and determination to confront and neutralize the terrorist threat, despite the complexities posed by the terrain and the tactics employed by the insurgents.
