NAFDAC sanctions two pizza outlets for using expired ingredients

Fake drugs: NAFDAC warns distributors to stop supply to parts of Kano markets

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)has sanctioned two pizza outlets in Abuja for using expired dough blend seasoning.

Ozigis Abdulsalam, the Federal Capital Territory director of NAFDAC, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said the agncey, acting on intelligence information discovered that the outlets were using expired dough blend seasoning and deep ham slices to prepare their pizzas.

Abdulsalam raised concerns that the act amounts to dereliction of best practices that can jeopardise food safety and lead to a public health issue.

Abdulsalam said the expired ingredients were seized, firing an inspection of teh outlets, adding that the pizza outlets were penalised

The pizza outlets are expected to submit an undertaking not to be found engaging in such poor practices again, he stated.
