Kwara opens CBT centre in Igbaja, procures 250 computers

The Kwara State Government says it has facilitated the establishment of a new Computer-Based Training (CBT) Centre in Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area with 250 units of computers procured for the Centre.

Mary Ronke Arinde, Commissioner for Tertiary Education, who led a Government delegate to the Centre, confirmed this at the official commissioning and hand-over ceremony of the Centre.

The Commissioner emphasized that the establishment of the CBT centre had reflected the unwavering commitment of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to the education sector in the State.

A statement by Mansurat Amuda-kannike, the Press Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education said the Commissioner, noted that the gesture would significantly alleviate the challenges faced by students around the igbaja axis during the JAMB Examination, and also offer them greater access to modern tools essential for their academic success.

Oba Ahmed Awuni Babalola, the Elese of Igbaja, appraised the State Government for finding Igbaja Community worthy of such development, assuring the people of Igbaja that the facility would be put to optimal use.

The Elese of Igbaja maintained that Governor Abdulrazaq had been magnanimous in his leadership style and prayed God Almighty to continue to strengthen him in his determination to take kwara to greater heights.

Patrick Aibangbee, the representative of Mac Gable Global Services Limited, described the initiative as highly commendable, even as he noted that the company had supplied 250 units of computers according to specifications as requested by the governor.

In his goodwill message, Owolabi John, the Registrar of Buhari College of Health Sciences, who represented the Chief Executive Director said the College would offer 50% scholarship payment for 50 candidates who are indigenes of Igbaja, and another 25% for non-indigenes as part of its efforts to support the take-off of the CBT Centre.

One of the beneficiaries, Oyinloye Ayomide Devine of Baptist Grammar School, Igbaja, thanked the governor for bringing the CBT Centre to their community, adding that it would ease their transportation cost and also lessen the burden of travelling to Ilorin for the examination.
