Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), a former military president, is set to unveil his autobiography, A Journey In Service, on February 20.

The event will also feature a fundraiser for the IBB Presidential Library, according to an invitation dispatched to dignitaries this week.

The launch, slated for the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, will be chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the special guest of honour.

Nana Akufo-Addo, former president of Ghana, will deliver the keynote address, while Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s former vice president, will review the book.

Other high-profile attendees expected at the event include former presidents Muhammadu Buhari, Yakubu Gowon, Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Goodluck Jonathan. Theophilus Danjuma, a former defence minister, and Abdul Samad Rabiu, chairman of BUA Group, have been named chief launchers.

Seven years ago, IBB had expressed skepticism about writing an autobiography, questioning whether Nigerians would be interested in reading about “a dictator.”

He also lamented the public’s perception of his role in the controversial events of his administration, including the June 12 crisis and the policies implemented during his tenure from 1985 to 1993.
