The embassy of the Republic of Türkiye (Turkey) in Abuja has officially announced the opening of a new SEFA visa application office in Lagos via its X handle.

The move promises to significantly ease the bureaucratic burden on Nigerian travellers.

The new facility, located on the 1st Floor (Suite F1.A), Cardinal Place, Plot 115, Ayo Babatunde Crescent, Oniru, Lekki, Lagos became fully operational on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Previously, applicants residing in Lagos and its surrounding states faced the inconvenient logistical hurdle of travelling to the federal capital, Abuja, to process their travel documents.

This new development now marks a crucial decentralisation of services, reflecting a growing diplomatic and economic partnership between the two countries.

Announcing the launch via an official statement, a spokesperson for the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye remarked:

“In addition to the existing visa office in Abuja, applicants residing in Lagos and surrounding areas can now conveniently submit their visa applications through the newly opened Lagos office.”

The diplomatic mission further advised the public to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to official channels when planning their travel.

“Applicants are advised to follow official procedures and contact SEFA visa offices for appointment scheduling and further information regarding visa requirements and application processes,” the embassy noted on its X page.

By establishing a permanent footprint in Lagos, Türkiye is not only streamlining administrative processes but also fostering closer business, educational, and tourism ties. For local applicants, the reduction in travel time and expenses is a highly welcome relief.
