The Ekiti State Government has taken decisive steps to resolve a prolonged dispute in Orin-Odo, Ikole Local Government Area, by directing Oba Adebisi Ogunjobi to reinstate the payment of monthly stipends to certain chiefs in the community.
The move followed years of petitions from the affected chiefs, who alleged that they had been excluded from the government’s payroll since February 2018.
The conflict, which has strained relationships among traditional leaders, drew the attention of Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, prompting a formal intervention.

During a mediation meeting on Tuesday, Afuye, represented by her Special Assistant on Media, Victor Ogunje, instructed that payments resume starting January 2025.
She also urged the monarch to consider disbursing a portion of the unpaid arrears as a gesture of goodwill to mend the fractured ties.
The government’s involvement emphasises its dedication to fostering peace and addressing grievances within Ekiti’s traditional institutions.
