Babajide Sanwoolu, governor of Lagos State says the state needs an additional N100 billion to fix urban water and to make sure cholera outbreak doesn’t occur in the state in future.

The governor who described the disease outbreak as a behavioural thing also said has said the state government is planning to set up a medical university before the end of his tenure.

He made the pledge at the Employment Summit 3.0 themed ‘Job creation uniting for impact: create, collaborate, change’ on Wednesday.

“Lagos State Government is planning to set up a medical university in Lagos as our throwback when we leave office,” Sanwoolu said.

He stated that in this day and age, there is an outbreak of cholera. “We transparently communicated to escalate it and communicate it to the public.

“I want to say within the last three, four weeks we have been able to address cholera which is less than 2-3 percent as we have been able to contain it to the barest minimum,” he said.

“We need to correct our system effectively and as the government, we see that we need to additionally get about N100 billion to fix urban water and see that they are where they are needed so we don’t come to this Cholera era again.”
