Britain’s Charles III ended his seven-decade wait to be crowned King on May 6 in a ceremony marked with pomp.
King Charles, received St. Edward’s Crown during a ceremony in Westminster Abbey watched from all over the world.
The new king legally took over after Queen Elizabeth II’s death in September 2022.
The king is expected to leave the Westminster Abbey in his grandfather’s Robe of Estate, made of purple silk velvet embroidered in gold.

Later today, the newly crowned king and queen will be greeted by a royal salute from the military in the Buckingham Palace gardens. Charles and Camilla and members of the royal family will also appear on the palace balcony to watch a flypast.
Royal photographer Hugo Burnand will then take portraits of the couple and family group pictures, before the king and queen have lunch with the royal family.
Camilla, the Queen Consort, was crowned with Queen Mary’s Crown in a similar ceremony moments later.
King Charles III ascended the British throne on September 8, 2022, after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully in her home after a brief illness.
