Buhari seeks improved workers’ productivity

Buhari calls for caution on ECOWAS common currency

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged Nigerian workers on the need to boast productivity.

The President stated this when he received the 2019 National Productivity Order of Merit award recipients at the State House, Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.

The award receipts honored by the President include the Chairman of Tony Elumelu Foundation, Tony Elumelu, Chairman Honeywell Oba Otudeko, the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Ishaq Olarewaju Oloyede

Others include the Chairman of Channels Television John Momoh and Kpanpando Foundation for Persons with Disability, Queen Hellen Makama, amongst others.

Buhari who urged Nigerian youths to emulate the award receipts, noted that the conferment of the award is in recognition of their “ exemplary service, conduct, productivity, innovation and excellence in your various endeavors.”

The National Productivity Order of Merit is one of the highest honours our Nation confers on its citizens, given to entrepreneurs who distinguished themselves in their chosen fields, after a selection process strictly based on merit.

He described the 2019 awardees as people of diverse and outstanding backgrounds, captains of Industry, technocrats, public servants, media practitioners, security officials, with tangible contributions towards protecting, developing and enhancing the country and its citizens.

“I will take this opportunity to encourage our citizens, especially our youth, to emulate your actions as we continue to work together to build the Nigeria of our expectations.

Buhari reiterated that his government will continue to focus on providing a safe and secure nation with policies and programs that will bring prosperity to the masses.
“I am confident that this goal is achievable if we put our differences aside and work together in the spirit of cooperation.

“I am informed that the National Productivity Centre will, on an annual basis, organize forums for past awardees to come together and exchange ideas on how to encourage selfless service and commitment on our lives.

The President, while noting that the task of nation building is an enormous one, said “ citizens must endeavor to become more productive. It is only through greatly increased productivity that we can create a big and prosperous economy. The awardees here present are role models for all of us to emulate
