Ex Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai has once again stirred the political waters, asserting that he does not engage in pretense like some politicians whom he desvibed as “Nollywood actors” once in office.
His remarks come amid an ongoing verbal exchange between him and figures within President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The tension escalated after el-Rufai accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of deviating from its founding principles, a shift he claimed had left him estranged from the party he once identified with.
El-Rufai’s critique drew a sharp response from Daniel Bwala, a presidential aide, who questioned whether the former governor would have voiced the same concerns had he been appointed to Tinubu’s cabinet.

In a swift reply, El-Rufai insisted that his stance on the APC would remain unchanged regardless of his role in the administration.
On Saturday, he reinforced his position with a cutting remark on social media. Replying to a post that described him as a politician unwilling to compromise for political favor, El-Rufai responded, “Truly, I don’t know how to pretend. Being a Nollywood actor in governance is for some others, not some of us. Have a nice day.”
His comment has ignited fresh debate over his political trajectory and the widening cracks within the APC. While some see his bluntness as a mark of integrity, others interpret it as a strategic move to distance himself from an administration he was once rumored to have eyed a role in.
As the political drama unfolds, El-Rufai’s refusal to “act” in what he perceives as a staged governance script leaves questions about his next move—and whether his criticisms will evolve into a more definitive break from the APC.
