Arsonists have burned down the house of Fred Agbedi, member of the House of Representatives from Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, at his community, Aghoro in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
BusinessDay reliably gathered that the arsonists arrived at the coastal community at about 3.00am on Wednesday and went straight to the federal lawmaker’s house and burned it down.
This is the second attack on Agbedi’s country home this year after his house was torched earlier on March 20 this year.
A community source said the arsonists shot into the air to scare the villagers away before setting Agbedi’s younger brother’s house ablaze.
Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri condemned the development saying it was uncalled for and assured that the perpetrators would be brought to book to serve as deterrent to others.

Diri who spoke during the 73rd state executive council meeting in Yenagoa on Wednesday said he had sacked the community leadership until further notice as an immediate measure to maintain security.
The governor called on the people of the state to embrace peace at all times and learn to be their brother’s keeper.
His words: “In Aghoro, the homes of a member of the House of Representatives and that of his brother were razed. I hereby disband the community leadership in that community.”
No reason has been advanced for the arson and Agbedi is yet to react to the development which some people believe could be either related to political developments in the federal constituency or oil and gas issues in Aghoro community.
