Oside Oluwole

A 24-year-old Nigerian, Oside Oluwole, has set a new Guinness World Record for the “longest videogame marathon playing a soccer game.”

Oluwole played on his iPhone which was connected to a TV screen, unlike previous holders of the competition who used FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer.

He played over 500 matches during his record attempt.

The GWR disclosed on Tuesday that Oluwole “Khoded” gone beyond the previous record of 50 hours held by Englishman David Whitefoot since 2022, with an astonishing 75 hours.

The graduate of biochemistry who is now a car dealer attempted this feat to raise money for a local hospital in Ijebu Ode, his hometown.

According to the GWR rule, Khoded was permitted only five minutes of rest after every hour of gaming.

In 2023, Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, broke the record of longest cooking attempt.

In April 2024, another Nigerian, Clara Chizoba Kronborg, broke the record for the longest interviewing marathon in 55 hours, 24 seconds and was confirmed by GWR.

Tunde Onakoya, another Nigerian, who is focused on Chess, in April, finished his attempt for the longest chess marathon. He played chess for 60 hours.

Oluwole noted that his attempt was fun and but stressful.

He said, “I really enjoyed myself playing for 75 hours straight with just some hours of rest. It wasn’t an easy task, but I must say it was all fun. It was such a great moment; the event was very interesting and I’m grateful to God that it was successful.”
