2024: Shaibu, Edo deputy governor, declares interest in governorship race

…Says ‘no one can stop my ambition’

Philip Shaibu, Edo State deputy governor, on Monday formally declared his interest to contest the 2024 governorship election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying no one can stop his ambition.

Shaibu made the declaration at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, Benin City.

The event was attended by many PDP faithful, friends and associates across the three senatorial districts of the state.

In his speech, Shaibu declared that he had been pressed but not crushed, persecuted but not abandoned, badly hurt but not destroyed.

He said that he withstood all the political challenges because of the tireless and irrepressible Edo spirit in him.

The deputy governor who described himself as “original Edo son” and “100 percent home boy,” expressed confidence of getting the party’s ticket with the support of the party members and Edo people.

“My dear people of Edo State, this declaration is not just a political affair, it’s a call to destiny; a call to become the heartbeat of this nation, not just in words but indeed.

“Therefore, I humbly seek your support, your trust, and your nomination in this upcoming election, as we embark on this journey together; united in our determination to make Edo State a better place for ourselves and generations to come,” he said.
