2023: Ebonyi APC primary produces two guber candidates

Two governorship candidates Wednesday emerged for the 2023 general election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), primaries in Ebonyi State.

The candidates are Elias Mbam, former chairman of Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), and Francis Nwifuru, speaker of the state House of Assembly.

The two candidates emerged through parallel congresses.

The two factions held the primaries at different locations in Abakaiki the state capital.

The election which commenced with the accreditation of the delegates started at about 1:pm.

The congress which produced Hon. Nwifuru was held at Abakaliki stadium through the indirect primary.

Engr Mbam’s faction used direct primaries and conducted its congress at his Mbam campaign office Mile 50, Abakaiki.

Engr Mbam scored 741 votes in his factional primaries, and Nwifuru polled 743 votes.

Professor Emmanuel Kehinde announced Nwifuru the winner of the factional primaries held at the stadium.

According to professor Kehinde, the total number of delegates was 855, 8 invalid votes.

Francis Nwifuru scored 743, Mrs. Rosemary Ofoke Nwogbaga scored 63, Senator Julius Ucha scored 22 votes, Engr Elias mbam – 10 while Edward Nkwegu scored 8 votes.

“I am happy for the conduct, the transparency, and peaceful nature of the exercise which shows that Apc is working together for the desired change the people want in the state”.

Meanwhile, Egwu Akanu Otuu announced Elias Mbam the winner of the Mbam factional primaries.
