No fewer than 5,000 persons resident in Edo State have been targeted to benefit from the Ministry of Regional Development free healthcare services.
Abubakar Momoh, the Minister of the Ministry, stated this during the flag-off of a one week-long medical outreach in Auchi, the Administrative Headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
Momoh represented by Festus Wasa, Director of Community Development and Education of the Ministry, said the healthcare services would be carried out in the six geopolitical zones of the Country.
He said that the one-week free medical treatment by the Ministry was being undertaken by Derum Global Services, targeting to treat 5,000 people of different ailments in the State.
He noted that the free medical outreach affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to improving the healthcare and well-being of the Edo residents.

“This medical exercise is part of the Ministry’s mandates of ensuring development of various regions as only the healthy person that can contribute to national development”, he stated.
He added that the free health services was aimed at promoting the well-being of indigent persons at the grassroots by granting them easier access to free and quality healthcare.
Omeco Ekorhi, the Project Coordinator, Derums Global Services Limited, said that the medical outreach included general surgery, eye surgery, free eye glasses, gynaecology, general consultation, fibroid operation, checking of high blood pressure, diabetes, malaria test as well as the distribution of free drugs, among others.
