President Donald Trump has banned Boeing’s fleet of 737 Max aircraft from US airspace, days after the Ethiopian Airlines crash on Sunday, which killed 157 people, and after every other major economy had taken the same action.
The US president on Wednesday issued an emergency order grounding the fleet of aircraft until Boeing comes up with a solution, amid safety concerns following the Ethiopian crash. Mr Trump’s announcement came hours after Canada took similar action, citing new evidence showing possible similarities with a Lion Air crash last October involving the same model of aircraft.
Mr Trump made the emergency order amid growing criticism of US regulators for failing to ground the aircraft, despite the fact that officials in Europe and China have done so.
