2013 IFLR Africa Forum in London focuses on Nigeria’s power sector

The renowned International Financial Law Review (IFLR) held the 2nd edition of the IFLR Africa Forum yesterday, at the Waldorf Hotel, London. The forum brings together, leading legal practitioners, in-house counsel from the UK as well as African based banks, corporates and funds.

This year’s Africa Forum generally focused on energy, power, infrastructure, capital markets, corporate finance and taxation, and provides a platform for discovering new opportunities in Africa.

Countries in focus were Nigeria, Mozambique, South Africa and Mauritius.

At the session on Nigeria titled, ‘Focus: Nigeria’, Banwo & Ighodalo’s managing partner and head of the law firm’s energy (oil & gas and power) practice group, Ken Etim, delivered a paper titled, ‘The Nigerian Power Sector Legal/Regulatory Framework – Key Financing Considerations’. Etim is also a member of the panel which led the discussion on the topic.

Other panellists for the session include ‘Lolu Adubifa, CEO, Lavayo Energy; Kirsti Massie, partner in the energy infrastructure, project and asset finance group in the London office of White & Case LLP; and Oliver Andrews, director & chief coverage officer, Africa Finance Corporation.
