The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has demanded an inquiry into the allegation that 83 percent of oil blocs’ allocations are owned by Northern Nigerians.
Senators from the Southern part of the country had alleged during the debate on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) that the North has more share of oil blocs than the Southerners. The allegation was the offshoot of the division created in the chamber following the 10 percent host community funds clause in the PIB.
In an e-mailed statement from the ACF spokesman, Anthony Sani, the forum maintained that a thorough investigation into the matter has become imperative to ascertain the truth and should be published according to states, volume and dates.
The Northern socio-cultural organisation argued that it is on record that the North has fewer rich Nigerians than its Southern counterpart, stressing that an open inquiry would assist to set the record straight on the equitable management of oil blocs in the country.
