The University of Benin UNIBEN on Friday announced the appointment of Lillian Imuetinyan Salami as its new Vice-Chancellor, Realnews magazine reported Saturday.
Salami, a professor of Home Economics/Nutritional Education, is the 10hth VC of the institution, and the second female to occupy that post. The first female to head the varsity was Grace Alele-Williams, a professor of mathematics.
Salamis is to take over from Professor Faraday F. Osasere Orumwense, according to Realnews.

Meanwhile the death of four sisters in an auto crash Saturday morning has led to a protest by youths in Benin City, the Punch newspaper reported.
Punch reported that a car driven by a man who was with his wife ran into and killed the four sisters at Uselu, along the Lagos-Benin road. One of the women was pregnant, the report said.
