FG releases results of 2022 common entrance examinations

NECO urges defaulting states to pay up N3bn debt

The federal government on Monday released of the 2022 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) results for admission into federal unity colleges across the country.

Adamu Adamu, minister of education who announced the release in Abuja said the federal ministry of education would ensure that all admission processes are completed on or before Friday 1st July, 2022.

According to the minister who was represented by David Adejo, the permanent secretary of the ministry, the NCEE still remains the most competitive examination into secondary schools in Nigeria, administered every year to Nigerian children both at home and abroad.

The minister directed Parents/Guardians to visit NECO website: www.neco.gov.ng for details of the results of their children/wards.

While giving a breakdown on the number of students that sat for the exams across states on Saturday 7th May, 2022 in Nigeria, as well as Benin Republic and Togo, the minister informed that a total number of 71,738 pupils registered, with 34.030 being males and 37,708 being females.

He added that 96 percent, representing 68,638 pupils, sat for the examinations, while four percent 3,100 were absent. The minister further informed that Lagos State had the highest number of registered candidates with 19,518 pupils followed by the FCT, Anambra State and Zamfara State.

“The State that registered the least number of candidates is Kebbi State, with 74 candidates,” he added.

The minister further informed that the candidate that scored the highest marks is Ajidagba Mariam Akanke an indigene of Sokoto State with 201 marks followed by Obot Abundance Idara an indigene of Akwa Ibom State with 200 marks; while the lowest score was 01 mark scored by fifteen candidates from various States.

Ibrahim Wushishi, registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO), said the 2022 result is a marked improvement in terms of performance of pupils, particularly female performance and registration.
