World gets a wake up call for reform from elites gathering in Davos

The president of the Swiss Federation and the founder of the world economic forum have Tuesday sent out a wake up call to leaders in private and public life to mount the urgent reform of the way they run the world to avert a castrophe that stares all in the face.
Speaking at the formal opening of the annual meetings of the world economic forum in Davos, founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab said we must refine the way businesses act to “make ESG a measurable part of annual audit.”
He said the world was in a state of emergency and that the window to act is fading.
According to him, the world is “facing great challenges and we need platforms for global collaboration.”
“Let’s make this a do shop and not talk shop so we can achieve sometning this week,” Schwab said.
He outlined some of the initiatives of the forum to help and they include a private public platform to provide skill to a billion people to make a living, grow and conserve one trillion trees by 2030
He said there was a general loss of trust and confidence of people around the world “we cannot be paralysed by this. We as global leaders have a responsibility to help create a better world.”
He said, “look around the room, there is som much aggregated in power and influence. Let’s use it for the good of the people.”
Simonetta Sommaruga, President of the Swiss Confederation who gave the opening speech said “The world is on fire. We see the rain forest burning in the amazon and wild fires in Australia.”
What does it mean for us when animals and plants disappear, she asked.
She presented a heart wrenching presentation follows in what she called the message of the bees, saying .“Injustice can provide the reason for the strike back
Let’s find the right balance for our collective future. When the world is on fire, we cannot leave the fighting the fire to firemen alone.”
