Roses are red, violets are blue, where to this Valentine’s day?

SPICE UP YOUR VALENTINE’S DAY WITH THESE WHOLESOME TIPS

Valentine’s season is upon us and I don’t know about you but while Valentine’s Day can be an incredibly cheesy day, it is also undeniably a love-filled day which provides a great opportunity to check out culinary options around town. Whether you are spending Valentine’s day with alone, with friends, loved ones and your significant other I hope you feel loved this Valentine’s day.

I am of the opinion that showing love to those close to us should be something practiced on a regular basis, but I have to admit that there is something about Valentine’s day that just makes one want to express love. If any past Valentine’s day is anything to go by, I can assure you that Lagos is going to be on a traffic lockdown, so you may want to take that into consideration when making your plans. Keep in mind that you can be creative on Valentine’s Day, you have other options apart from going out to eat like going to the spa, a staycation at a local hotel or an indoor meal cooked by a private chef.

For our readers that feel like eating out this February 14th, here are 6 recommendations for where to be romantic this Valentine’s Day.

Tarragon

Located on 50 Raymond Njoku in Ikoyi, this has to one of the most romantic restaurants I have been to in Lagos. Tarragon offers an unmatched fine dining experience. As opposed to casual eateries, cafes or family-style restaurants, fine dining caters to an upscale clientele and provides the highest quality of food. A fine dining restaurant has a formal atmosphere, is almost always a sit-down restaurant, and has a fancier menu than most restaurants. Located in Ikoyi, Lagos Tarragon is known amongst Lagosians and Nigerians at large, as one of the top restaurants in Nigeria. They are fully booked for Friday 14th but go ahead and call for Saturday or Sunday.

Skylounge

Situated at the Penthouse of Eko Hotel, Sky Restaurant & Lounge has a unique wow factor that is hard to dispute. It’s about the highest restaurant in the city of Lagos and has a picturesque view of both the city and the Atlantic Ocean. Sky Restaurant & Lounge offers Asian fusion menu delicacies! Get pampered by our award-winning chef as he performs his art with a fusion of culinary traditions that combines different cuisines from the south-eastern/Asian region into a single eating experience. The restaurant has a seating capacity of 130 people. Eko hotel is incredibly busy on Valentine’s Day so I recommend you book first.

Noir Lagos

Located on 4a Akin Olugbade Steet in Victoria Island, Noir Lagos is the first of its kind french-inspired culinary experience that combines fine dining with a fun, friendly and warm environment. Noir as a brand focuses on giving its guests a taste of Paris in the bustling city of Lagos. Although it was initially known for its food and high-end dining experience has now transformed into a fully multipurpose space decked with a supermarket on the first floor, cafe on the second, restaurant on the third floor and rooftop bar on the 4th floor. There is something for everyone. They are having a special for Valentine’s Day at N25,000 per person.

Circa Non-Pareil

Located on 12 E Admiralty Way, Circa is right in the heart of Lekki Phase 1, near the link bridge and overlooks the beautiful Lekki waterway. It’s perfect for Valentine’s day celebration. They are doing a  special Valentine’s Day for 2 for only N30,000.  Considering the fact that one meal alone at Circa Non-Pareil can cost up to N30,000, this is a bargain and each time I go, the food is delicious.  Circa is easily one of my favorites. My favorite meal is the salmon.

Talindos Steak House

Located on 7b Karimu Kotun street in Victoria Island, Talindo’s is the restaurant I went to with one of my female friends, and I remember thinking that I couldn’t wait to experience the restaurant with a significant other.  I would recommend this for the grown folks who want a very intimate candlelight dinner. They are having  4 valentines specials worth different prices, starting from N54,000 all the way up to 1N60,000. The steak is some of the best I have ever had and I love how intimate the space is.

I hope you have an absolutely amazing Valentine’s day and I hope these recommendations are helpful to you.

Vanilla Moon

Vanilla Moon has recently become one trendiest restaurants in Lagos. They opened their doors in July of 2019 and have had an influx of customers and great reviews. I can say I have been there about 5 times. Vanilla Moon is located in a leafy by-lane of Victoria Island, Lagos on 2 Saka Jojo Street. The menu is curated with an array of European dishes raging from a tapas menu that can take you to any outdoor Spanish market, fresh-house made pasta, steak, sharing boards with Charcuterie, Sliders & Fondue. There is also the ruffle Mac & Cheese, Vanilla Moon Lobster Thermidor, and Twinkle Twinkle Tiramisu. Must try: Migas which is a surprisingly unlikely combination of eggs, chirosso, gapes, and bread. It’s absolutely delicious. The service is always stellar and the drinks are very tasty. The restaurant is perfect for brunch lunch, dinner, drinks with friends. Your average meal for 2 here will cost you about N 30,000.
