Oyo State Government says the Agodi Gardens currently under reconstruction has the potential to generate over N500 million annually. The project, upon completion is expected to be a reference point on recreation in Nigeria.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi during an inspection visit to the Gardens at Parliament Road in Ibadan on Wednesday said that the Gardens, sitting on 62 hectares of land, would serve as a place for leisure and relaxation, especially during festivities.
Governor Ajimobi explained that the first phase of the Gardens would be inaugurated in April, would be equipped with water park, slides and swimming pool , restaurant , events hall, open areas for picnicking, a nine-hole golf course, health firm and boat ride, among others.
He also promised that his administration had invested heavily on tourism to increase the state revenue generation and boost the economy of the state.
It would be recalled that the Gardens, until a few months ago, had been a haven for reptiles and rodents, in spite of its closeness to the state secretariat, the seat of government, thus scaring prospective leisure seekers.
Concerned by the sorry state of the Gardens, the Ajimobi administration embarked on its transformation, with the installation of state-of-the-art recreation facilities.
