Beta Glass appoints Simonin as new director

Beta Glass, stakeholders seek PPP model for waste management

Beta Glass Plc, a Nigerian-based glass bottle company, under the Frigoglass group, has announced the appointment of Denis Simonin as an independent non-executive director.

According to a statement, the appointment is to be ratified in the next Annual General Meeting of the company.

Simonin is a seasoned business leader with extensive board experience in manufacturing companies in Nigeria.

“With strong commercial acumen, Simonin has demonstrated his expertise as an international executive with robust financial skills. His career spans the glass and construction industries, where he has showcased proficiency in strategy, negotiation, transversal team management, business planning, and international business,” it added.

It said he has significant experience in Africa, where he has overseen large CAPEX projects and managed multi-stakeholder engagements across the glass business. He has held significant positions at Saint-Gobain, and Etex.

“Simonin has held full P&L responsibilities in complex environments, including joint ventures and family holdings, proving his ability to drive business transformation, navigate profitable markets, and expand into new territories,” the statement said.

Beta Glass manufactures, distributes, and sells glassware for the local market in Nigeria and international export.

The company supplies glass bottles and containers to the soft drinks, wine and spirits, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic sectors in Nigeria as well as exports to Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mauritius, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.

Beta Glass Company has manufacturing plants in Agbara Ogun state and Ughelli Delta state with its head office in Lagos, Nigeria.
