Adisa Olashile – the most qualified presidential candidate

Adisa Olashile – the most qualified presidential candidate

...He returned to share half of the fortune with Baba Onilu who might have not seen such an amount at an instance in his entire career

Nigerians are shopping for their next president and a lot of gamification is on for the successor to Buhari. In my last article, I questioned Buhari’s right to appoint his successor based on how he will be leaving the office and the failed promises to Nigerians. Nigeria in terms of security is worst off than in 2015.

In terms of the economy, we cannot compare how poor Nigerians are to when the president was elected in 2015. There is a high probability that corruption has taken a landslide turn given the amount of money on the neck of the accountant general of the federation.

This and many more benchmarks confirm the decays in our leaders’ minds and thinking, Orji Kalu is asking Buhari to anoint Lawan as the APC’s presidential aspirant. To him, Buhari has the right to appoint his successor. On what basis is the right granted? I am sure it is in the interest of Kalu and not for the direct benefit of Nigeria.

The few parts of their legacies is being eroded day by day. A time will come, no one will remember them for anything except the state of the nation

It is not in the interest of our unity, economic well-being and survival as a nation to continue the legacy of Buhari. That is one of the reasons Osinbajo wants to continue what Buhari had done to Nigerians is not a candidate to be considered.

Before and since independence, Nigeria has been blessed with self-centred leaders. From north to the south are leaders thinking more of themselves than of the people.

They have taken every decision based on their self-interests – the desire to rule a big nation, to dominate another ethnic group, to impose their religion on others. In the process, many lives have been ruined. Many destinies have been destroyed in a country with huge material resources. Our leaders are the reasons we are crawling instead of flying as a nation.

There is no need to eulogise any politician or our founding fathers. They have failed to make the right decisions for us given the situation of our country.

They have produced proteges and leaders who have taken after them in the quest for the acquisition of wealth, power, and influence at the expense of the masses. The few parts of their legacies is being eroded day by day. A time will come, no one will remember them for anything except the state of the nation.

There is no presidential aspirant that is not a product of the past. They have all benefited from the national resources either directly or indirectly. They are being driven by personal aspirations like their founding fathers.

They have subjugated national interest, diversity, and peculiarities for their desire to be the president, or senators and earn underserved jumbo pay.

That is more of a reason why someone who was a governor of a state could be seeking a return to the senate after 12years. They are not productive outside politics and cannot start anything that can impart lives and outlive them.

They are parasites on the state resources in the name of service and giving peanuts to the caged followers who are independent by association but slaves by mindset.

To summarise, there is no strength of character that could transform Nigeria in them. That’s why we are retrogressing year on year.

The beautiful one is someone who can put the interest of others ahead of himself or herself. That strength of character was displayed by Adisa Olashile, a youth corps member who took the picture of an old drummer and sold it on NFT.

Unlike our leaders, Olashile has the courage and the strength of character to do what is right and the right thing. He didn’t abandon the goose that lays the golden eggs.

It takes personal leadership and strength of character for Adisa not to be selfish in a society where you have to get as much as possible even if others are to die.

Adisa is different in a country where those who are in the public offices have been there forever and are now replicating their children as if they own Nigeria.

Adisa could have allowed the system to prevent him from giving rewards to the masses that deserve it. He could have used his numerous needs and the need to impress his girlfriend (for our leaders-girlfriends) and do what no one will question. Give Baba Onilu nothing or a sum not near the N600,000.

Adisa Olashile discovered the crude oil while serving his nation. Unlike his leaders, he did collaborate with foreign investors for the mining and granted licences to qualified exploration firms. But he didn’t put a percentage of the sale proceeds for personal use in the contracts nor make it a condition for his approval.

He didn’t siphon the money meant for road construction, affordable healthcare, quality education, security, social welfare, and services into his family’s pockets. He dared to be different by thinking of the masses and returning the proceeds back to the people who needed it most.

Adisa’s attitude is in the likes of transformation leaders and not our ‘jedu gera’ (termites) who will never return to thank the goose that laid the golden eggs and talk less of rewarding them with the needed amenities. Adisa is the strength of character that we have lacked and needed in our presidential aspirants.

I will vote for Adisa Olashile for President. He is the president Nigeria is looking for, a strength of character and self-leadership that put the masses ahead of himself.
