The Nigerian finance sector is transforming in 2025, driven by regulatory reforms, technological innovation, and a renewed focus on economic resilience. As the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) enforces stringent recapitalization requirements for banks and fintech startups to disrupt traditional financial services, the demand for specialised finance professionals has surged.

A review of the top hiring websites and platforms in Nigeria shows that roles such as financial analyst, investment analyst and fund manager dominate hiring trends. The sector’s evolution is fueled by Fintechs that are innovating new products for the Nigerian finance scene.

Portfolio Manager

As companies such as Moniepoint and FairMoney drive consumer lending across Nigeria, the demand for individuals overseeing the lending business in different regions has increased. Hence, portfolio managers have been in high demand across the various states in Nigeria.

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing the loan portfolio within a specific state, leading a team of Field Credit Officers to drive lending operations effectively.

Risk Analyst

Due to the volatility in the Nigerian economic landscape, there is a rising demand for risk analysts. These risk analysts help to develop strategies for managing financial uncertainties. Also, the rapid expansion of fintech companies and digital solutions from traditional financial institutions has led to increased exposure to fraud, cybersecurity threats, and regulatory risks.

Essentially, risk analysts have become high in demand in the Nigerian financial landscape. The educational requirements are the same as most other finance jobs.

Treasury Officer

A Treasury Officer plays a critical role in managing a company’s or financial institution’s liquidity, cash flow, and financial risks. They ensure that organizations have enough funds for operations while optimizing investments and minimizing risks. They work in banks, corporate firms, asset management firms, and fintech companies.

KYC Analyst

A KYC (Know Your Customer) Analyst is responsible for verifying customer identities, assessing financial risks, and ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) regulations. They play a crucial role in banks, fintech companies, investment firms, and regulatory bodies by preventing fraud, money laundering, and financial crimes.

Their job involves customer identity verification, such as verifying official documents such as BVN, NIN, and utility bill documents. With tightening AML/KYC regulations, KYC analysts have become a must-have for financial institutions in Nigeria.

FX Trader

As companies look to manage FX volatility, they need to create hedging strategies, and this is where FX traders are essential. Banks, fintech startups, corporations, and asset management firms are actively hiring FX trading experts to help them trade the FX market, and ensure compliance with evolving policies.

Apart from the financial institutions, Nigerian companies with import/export operations, foreign loans, or cross-border transactions require FX traders to help manage their FX operations.

Financial Analyst

Given the expanding financial services sector, financial analysts are now in high demand. They sometimes combine the responsibilities of an investment analyst, financial reporting officer, and risk analyst. Companies that are unable to employ individuals for different roles, like to employ financial analysts who take up all these responsibilities.

 Fund Manager

Fund managers are in charge of managing investment portfolios while making decisions about buying, selling, or holding assets on behalf of clients. They typically work in asset management firms, mutual fund companies, pension funds, and private equity.
