The world of tech product development is fast-moving, and success often hinges less on flashy features than on the chemistry of the people who build them.

While briefing reporters recently, Oghenekome Igbogidi, a senior AI product manager who is celebrated for her work on conversational-AI platforms, said the true engine of successful product teams is “active listening coupled with transparent communication.”

She told journalists that her engineers and designers keep message threads public and hold frequent context-setting huddles so everyone “understands the why behind a roadmap shift” and feels part of the finished product.

Igbogidi explained that every ticket, prototype and test suite in her organisation must trace back to a larger product vision, a discipline that, she noted, accelerates delivery and frees specialists to suggest creative shortcuts “because they know exactly where the finish line is.”

Managers, she added, are coached to spotlight quick wins, a cleverly refactored function, a polished user flow, to create what she called “a rhythm of progress” that eventually powers headline-grabbing launches.
She also outlined the retention strategy reporters were keen to hear: training stipends, conference passes and cross-functional mentorships that show “we’re in this journey together,” plus pair-programming sessions, design-thinking workshops and hack days that let ideas, not titles, dominate.

Guardrails against burnout remain non-negotiable; by modeling sensible hours and encouraging downtime, Igbogidi says focus “stays renewable only when rest is respected.” Within those boundaries, engineers enjoy wide autonomy, and regular one-on-ones serve as listening posts to surface friction early.

Summing up for the press corps, she argued that although technology evolves at breakneck speed, the psychological fundamentals of clarity, recognition, growth and trust never change: “Master those,” she concluded, “and the product practically builds itself.”
