Love Nwantiti is certified diamond in France

There are good songs and there are classic songs, the kind that leave traces in the sands of time and serve as a time capsule for listeners who will hear it decades from now and reflect on its enormous success, like Ckay’s “Love Nwantiti,” which has recently been awarded the Diamond certification in France.

Love Nwantiti has sold over 333,333 units of sales in the country making it the first Afrobeats song to attain this height.

Syndicat national de l’édition phonographique (SNEP) which translates to the National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing is automatic in its certifications and includes physical sales, downloads and streams. Having a diamond certification requires the song to have made 250,000 unit sales which also means the song has been streamed at least 50 million times in France.

The song reached number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 also featuring on Canadian Hot 100 charts. Some of its other certifications include 3x platinum in Canada, platinum in Denmark and Poland and gold in Spain.

‘Love Nwantiti’ was originally released as part of Ckay’s E.P and became one of the best performing songs and got itself a remix featuring Afrobeats star Joeboy and Ghanaian singer Kuami Eugene which was released in 2020 and became a hit on airwaves at the time.

Almost a year after its release DJ Yo– a DJ from Mauritius remixed the original song and made it a sound on Tik Tok, that was the beginning of what was to become a global sensation as different personalities ranging from actors to footballers, influencers and other notable personalities made Love Nwantiti a viral tik tok sound which led to more streams of the original and the remix in the coming months.

The singer has six official music and video versions and, according to BusinessDay figures, has earned over N2.6 billion from streaming, which is still evergreen because it continues to receive certifications all over the world.
