Nike Oshinowo returns with a late night show

Still relishing the joy of motherhood, famous fashion icon, Nike Oshinowo, is adding another feather to her cap as she begins a TV show, ‘Late Night with Nike Oshinowo.’

The show which will be aired at 11pm on Thursdays on African Independent television (AIT), Oshinowo said will be an exciting new entertainment and lifestyle late night talk show, showcasing the best of art, culture, music, politics and pop-culture.

The show which will begin on the 27th of November 2014 will be hosted by Nike Oshinowo. The season one of this weekday show is set to start with a live studio audience, an in-house celebrity DJ, and featuring journalist and social commentator, Cheta Nwanze.

First of its kind for format and content, ‘Late Night with Nike Oshinowo,’ will eject life and fun into the weekday evenings of viewing audience, bringing a vast array of local and international acts and celebrities from the world of arts, cinema, music and politics into the viewer’s living room.

Speaking at a chat in Lagos, Oshinowo said the show will serve as a platform for industry leaders, politicians, celebrities, artists, actors and musicians alike to connect directly to the people of Nigeria through engaging and candid interviews.

She said on the show, Nigerian viewers will be privy to entertaining conversations from the people they most want to hear from and everyone who is moving to the needle on pop culture will be welcome on the ‘Late Night with Nike Oshinowo’ couch.

She also said she hopes through the show she will be able to place Nigeria firmly on the cultural world map as the show will be a fusion of the nation’s creative best with foremost international talent and creativity.

“These days, no real questions get answered and no real issues get dealt with but the late night shows will be more real and on when the children are asleep. This will give us an opportunity to have real adult conversation, of whatever could be bothering you,” she said.

She assured that during the show, she does not plan to be confrontational but to be civilised, decent and responsible and still have good adult conversation.

She disclosed that she chose to air the show on AIT because she needed a platform that is Nigerian as well as international, adding that the show will melt the affairs of the day into pleasurable evenings of comedy, fashion, music and all round entertainment.

Sponsors of the show include Firstbank, Arikair.com, AIT and GH.Mumm champagne.

Jire Kuforiji, general manager, AIT, Lagos said AIT always want to be identified as being the first. Hence when the new project came up, AIT wanted to participate in it and help rejuvenate night programmes in Nigeria.

“Eleven o’clock is a prime time for a show like this. We are here as gate keepers and we will always abide by the rules of NBC,” she said.
