Osun plans biotechnology summit for food security

A major biotechnology stakeholders’ summit that will enable farmers and industrialists tap into the benefits accruable from scientific innovations for the achievement of food security is coming up soon.

The summit to be sponsored by the Osun State government is part of the moves by Governor Rauf Aregbesola to attain to food security in the state.

Festus Agunbiade, special adviser to Aregbesola on agriculture and food security, said the summit would hold as soon as machinery was put in place for it.

The special adviser made this disclosure while visiting a brewery, noting that the cassava drink being introduced in the brewery was a major utilisation channel for the marketing and consumption of cassava tubers produced by farmers who have followed the invitation of the governor to engage in large-scale farming.
